Dr. Ivo Broeders is a gastro-intestinal surgeon, specialized in hiatal hernia and reflux, pelvic floor reconstruction and colo-rectal cancer. He introduced robot-assisted surgery in the Netherlands in 2000, and performed over 700 procedures in the gastrointestinal tract with the da Vinci system. Dr. Ivo Broeders is full professor at University of Twente, where he teaches medical engineers at the faculty of technical medicine. His research focuses on development of robotics for flexible endoscopy, ergonomics and clinical robotics in GE surgery. Dr. Ivo Broeders is honorary member of the Dutch Society of Endoscopic Surgery and currently past president of the Society of Robotic Surgery (SRS).
