Dr. Johannes Bonatti is the chief of cardio-thoracic surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, UAE and consultant cardiac surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic main campus in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. He trained, and practiced at Innsbruck Medical University in Innsbruck, Austria, where he was also associate professor of surgery and head of the cardiac surgery research lab from 2001 to 2007. From 2008 to 2012, he served as professor of surgery at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Dr. Bonatti’s main research interest is development of minimally invasive techniques in cardiac surgery. He has performed more than 600 robotically assisted operations in heart surgery and has carried out the world’s first successful completely endoscopic quadruple coronary artery bypass using robotic techniques. He is a member of several scientific societies in cardio-thoracic surgery and cardiology. He has published more than 200 papers. He is Board Member of the Society of Robotic Surgery (SRS) and of the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery (ISMICS).
