Dr. Vipul Patel, MD has earned international recognition for his proficiency with the da Vinci robot formally termed the da Vinci® Surgical System. He has personally performed the most robotic surgeries in the world and has currently performed over 7,000 robotic prostatectomies. Aside from vast surgical experience, he is also committed to sharing his expertise in training robotic urology surgeons around the world. Dr. Vipul Patel specializes in the robotic approach to urinary reconstruction, bladder and kidney cancer. He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and completed his residency and fellowship at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida. He served as the Director of the Center for Robotic and Computer-assisted Surgery at The Ohio State University Medical Center for three years, where he was also an Associate Clinical Professor of Urology and Associate Professor of Bioinformatics. He is the founder of the Society of Robotic Surgery and the editor-in-chief of The Journal of Robotic Surgery. He also teaches advanced courses in robotic surgery for the American Urologic Association.
